CPS software engineer Bill Shunn's quick thinking brought comfort to many
CPS employee founds first online WTC survivor registry
Central Park Software salutes the efforts of systems engineer Bill Shunn, who was the first to create an online resource facilitating communication between survivors in the wake of the September 11th tragedy in New York City.
Bill originally intended his site simply as a way for his friends, coworkers, and family to let each other know they were okay. The URL was quickly forwarded around the world, however, and sites like MSN, Wired.com, and CNN.com pointed users toward it. The day after the day, the site received nearly a million hits.
Thanks to Bill's quick thinking and technical know-how, many people were able to receive word that their loved ones were all right while phone lines were still overloaded. Central Park Software is proud to have him as one our fine systems engineers.
